Ford Faces New Car Customization Crisis

Its one of the most basic decision that a new car shopper can make, but potential Ford customers may not be able to pick the exterior paint color of their cars. If you were planning on purchasing a shiny black or red Ford vehicle then it will be impossible for your order to be completed until after the nuclear crisis in Japan is over. This may not be a big deal to some consumers, however, car colors are a big deal. Car dealerships frequently line their lots with eye catching vehicles in various shades, and curious car shoppers always ask the basic question, “What colors do your cars come in?”

While Japan works to get more control over its unstable nuclear reactor auto dealers will need to focus on selling Ford vehicles in red and black in order to make up for the fact that they cannot take customized orders. Conservative estimates indicate that there is not an actual shortage of the pigment, named Xirallic, that Ford uses to create black and red hi-gloss paint, but the automotive company wants to err on the side of caution. A handful of other industries have been negatively impacted by the anticipated Xirallic shortage, however, few of these companies sell products that are worth tens of thousands of dollars. Some car dealerships will have to offer other incentives in order to get consumers that are accustomed to getting what they want, but so far, car sales for Ford have remained steady and are expected to do well regardless of the shortage of red and black paint.
