Mercedes-Benz 125 Years Old

While Mercedes-Benz may not have actually produced vehicles for 125 years, founder Carl Benz did patent the invention that would lead to the production of the world’s most coveted luxury vehicle almost 125 years ago this day. Germans are proud to own the bragging rights to this important event in history. Celebrations have been planned around the world, most notably auto maker Zetsche is having a party at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart, Germany.

Some historians have stated that is not clear as to which auto company actually came first. Daimler AG believes that they were actually the first company to get their patent approved, and they can actually prove it because Mercedes-Benz was the very first company to use it. Either way, luxury car enthusiasts are thrilled the the company has been able to survive, and even thrive during this global economic crisis. There are many more middle class consumers that are responsible for the vehicle maker’s popularity, despite the belief that only the very rich purchase cars made by Mercedes-Benz. Even older model vehicles are sold at a steep markup. Out of all of the automotive makers that have been struggling to remain profitable, Mercedes-Benz has actually been doing pretty good. They have released quite a few redesigned vehicles that have been appealing to consumers, including the 2011 SLK350 Roadster and the G550 SUV. Mercedes-Benz likely has another 125 years of prosperity ahead of it so long as they are able to keep producing the luxury vehicles that their most loyal consumers want and deserve.
